Prank shaped careers on Pepper Rodgers KU staff
The 1968 Kansas coaching staff under Pepper Rodgers produced future head coaches Terry Donahue John Cooper and Dave McClain whose prank about Hayes backfired and helped McClain land a Columbus interview. Donahue later UCLA Hall of Fame coach and McClain led Wisconsin to a 46 42 3 record, with his death in 1986 sparking the Big Ten Coach of the Year honor. Cooper and Donahue are urged as worthy names for a prank trophy.
