Monarch Watch tagging boosts citizen science in butterfly migration
Kansas University entomology professor Jag- Orley Taylor cites 30,000 to 50,000 students in about 1,500 schools tagging monarchs to study migration routes. The program uses underside hind wing paper tags glued carefully so as not to hinder flight, with butterflies traveling from Toronto to near Mexico City and likely far beyond due to wind.
