Mooncraft Expert Killed in Crackup

Marine Corps Maj. Clifton C. Williams Jr., 35, an astronaut trainee and expert in the craft for lunar missions, was killed when his T38 jet trainer crashed into a hilltop near the Florida-Georgia line while en route from Cape Kennedy to Houston. He was alone, reporting distress after the collision.

Burglar Alarmed Mansion Heist In Miami Feeds Reward

An heir to E I du Pont de Nemours offered a substantial reward for return of a Russian and U S coin collection valued at about 1.9 million dollars after five masked bandits disabled alarms at the du Pont seaside mansion in Miami. The raid netted 4 000 dollars in cash 50 000 dollars in jewels and coins from a safe and a vault containing roughly 7 000 coins. Du Pont and his family were bound as the thieves demanded the location of the money and safe combinations. Private detective William Stanton opened a post office box to handle ransom talks while FBI agents joined the case.

City Boy Hurt In Two Car Mishap At 15th And Mass

A 15 year old Lawrence boy suffered minor injuries in a two car collision at 15th and Mass Thursday. The passenger, Mike K Newell of 1522 Lindenwood Lane, was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and released. His car sustained 720 dollars in damage while the other vehicle had 450 dollars in damage. At Cedarwood Avenue and West 25th Street another crash involved Robert J Wuthnow and Einda L Matassarin. Wuthnow reported 600 dollars damage to his car and Matassarin 750 dollars.
