London reports that the British government will examine Hitler's peace proposals with dominion and French consultation. It warns any agreement must free Europe from aggression and prove more than words. The speech is described as vague and two-part, with critical misrepresentations noted.
Berlin Oct 6 AP Hitler proposed a European peace settlement on a comprehensive basis while warning that rejection by Britain and France would trigger renewed war and unprecedented horror. He called for a redefined order in Europe and economic ties, while denying territorial ambitions beyond old colonial demands. He said Germany would seek no new claims on England or France and urged a secure, disarmed Europe.
Washington reports a German navy chief warned the liner Iroquois may be sunk near the American coast. Navy and coast guard units speed toward a mid Atlantic rendezvous to escort the vessel to New York and search for explosives. The White House denies belief in the claim and withholds details of ships and position.
Auditors for W. G. Hutson examined the books of the Jayhawk hotel in Topeka amid rumors Hutson may buy the Jayhawk Operating Company stock. Hutson, out of town, also runs Eldridge and Broadview properties. most Jayhawk stock is held by Mrs. N. M. Mosby and her mother. No offers reported yet.

Doctors offer free exams to select donors who can give blood to patients unable to pay. A WREN NBC broadcast tonight features leaders in medicine and publishing.

Wellington and other Kansas towns reported record highs on October 6 as temperatures rose to 100 degrees at 2 pm in Wellington, 98 in Fredonia, 97 in Independence, with other cities like Pittsburg 96 and Wichita in the mid-nineties. Salina and Kansas City also logged records, as the day surpassed prior October 6 highs.
