Legion Band Winner At Chicago Parade
The 50 piece Watertown Post No. 93 North Dakota Legion band won first place in the band competition at the 40 and 8 parade during the American Legion convention. Second went to the North Dakota state band, and third to Rockford Til. The Minnesota city band placed fourth. Missouri and Kansas drum corps did not medal. Out-of-state corps were eliminated in preliminaries. Celebratory refreshments followed. local residents visited and school honor roll members were announced.

Pleasant Valley Douglas County Farmers Union held a membership meeting at the Pleasant Valley schoolhouse Saturday evening. The schoolhouse was filled and much interest was shown. Cal Ward, state president, gave the address. Members hope for many new recruits as Lawrence looks forward to the Annual State Farmers Union meeting this year.
