Faculty Recital by Reinhold Schmidt Opens KU Season
Reinhold Schmidt professor of Voice will start the University of Kansas faculty guitar and recital series at 8 p m Monday October 16 in the Strong auditorium. Schmidt has performed as a principal baritone with the Philadelphia and Chicago Opera companies and with the Kansas City Opera in the West. He served as an American liaison officer for a German meteorological group and held naval reserve rank during training. During World War II he spent 40 months with the Navy weather officer in the Pacific three years with the U S weather bureau and two years in Ireland with the Irish Meteorological service. He is the son of Mrs Rosa Barnett and is married to Bernice Copeland of Parsons St and Mrs Barnett and three daughters Catherine Anne and Peggy reside in Wiesbaden.
