Baker Haskell 2015 crime reports show little change
Baker Baldwin City campus reported three sex crimes in 2014 and 2015 with two rapes in campus housing and one fondling at a noncampus location. Haskell's campus saw sex crimes drop from one to zero, with one aggravated assault each year and four VAWA offenses in 2015, while Baker had no VAWA offenses. KU also reported total sex crimes falling from 33 to 17.

The Lawrence Police Department reported preliminary results from a Friday sobriety checkpoint aimed at reducing crashes. Two arrests for driving while intoxicated, three drug violations, and three open-container violations were recorded, with total vehicle counts not released. The operation was funded by the Kansas Department of Transportation and was the fifth of seven planned patrols this year.

Trial rescheduled for man accused of 2014 homicide
Rontarus Washington Jr. 20 faces first degree murder and aggravated burglary charges for the 2014 killing of Justina Altamira no Mosso at 1727 W 24th St. in Omaha. Detected DNA, blood, and fingerprint evidence tied him to the crime. Trial now set to begin January 17 2017.
