Appeals court rules against Kansas in voting rights case
A federal appeals court ruled there is no constitutional issue with Kansas requiring citizenship documents from voters registering at motor vehicle offices. The decision supports an order forcing Kansas to register more than 20,000 voters and follows prior moves denying an emergency stay. The ruling marks another setback for Secretary of State Kris Kobach after a last minute deal with the ACLU to fully register voters and inform them they can vote in November.

Brownback to unveil revenue fixes for Kansas
Kansas Governor Sam Brownback says a task force will outline proposals next week to improve revenue projections. The Republican leader appointed the task force earlier this year as lawmakers cut personal income taxes in 2012 and 2013 to spur growth, while tax collections have fallen short in 31 of 44 months since.
