Two Army Generals Die In Oakland Plane Crash

A small Army transport plane crashed in fog near Orinda Oakland injuring a home. The victims include Maj. Gen. Carl F. Fritzsche of Ford Ord and Brig. Gen. Thomas H. Hayes along with Lt. Robert L. Fisher Chief Warrant Officers Richard K. Brown and Kenneth Kiester Specialist 5 C Donald E. Peter man. The craft en route from Fort Ord to Crissy Field exploded in flames after hitting a water tank and brush fire.

Douglas County reveals that its three largest taxpayers Kansas Power and Light Southwestern Bell Telephone and Santa Fe Railroad pay about 13 percent of the total tax abstract.
