Kansas Telephone Rates Sought to Fund Expansion Amid War
The Kansas service area faces rising costs from wage hikes taxes and building costs as earnings lag for the Kansas tele phone company. Since 1940 expenses rose 135 percent while revenues grew 89 percent. A large construction program aimed at restoring prewar service will require about $47 million gross in Kansas, funded by rate increases to attract investors while not burdening customers beyond fair costs.
