Dr J A May a 79 year old Solomon physician and his wife were hospitalized after their auto veered into a ditch on highway 59 nine and a half miles north of Ottawa. Crime spree ends in police shooting capture in Kansas City
Kansas City October 1 A crime spree that included kidnapping and robbing four taxicab drivers ended when police bullets wounded Charles Brown 26 and led to the capture of William L. Bradley 29 as they fled in a stolen taxi. The crash occurred near Swope Park after Bradley lost control. Brown lay in critical condition. Judge E. Hickey, who died September 20 in Albuquerque New Mexico, served at Haskell Institute as a 1890s disciplinarian and later became a lawyer and district judge. Haskell official H B Peairs lauded him as an outstanding character builder. Hickey's wife Daisy Cones was a Haskell teacher, and his father worked at Haskell. He later studied law at the University of Kansas, led Winfield High School, then taught in Albuquerque before practice and district judgeship.
