Amid Korea fighting a 36 hour lull ends as Allied artillery resumes long range shelling. Air battles feature 320 Red MiG jets sighted, with three USAF Sabres and one Mig damaged. Forecaster Tom Arnold says pleasant weather may continue into the weekend with sunny conditions possible for spectators at the Missouri Kansas football game in Lawrence. General fair and mild weather expected tonight through tomorrow with lows around 30 to 40 and highs near 60. Washington Nov 29 Lamar Caudle ousted assistant attorney general testified he earned 5000 in 1950 as a commission for arranging the sale of a private airplane to an investigator for two New York men later convicted of tax fraud. He said the deal was approved by Attorney General McGrath. Caudle spoke as a Ways and Means subcommittee probed tax prosecutions in the Justice Department.
Lawrence adopts a new overtime overparking plan with 25 cent envelopes placed under windshields and yellow payment boxes. Violators pay 25 cents within 24 hours or face a $1 red ticket. failure to pay or appear leads to arrest warrants.
Mrs O J Lane aged about 80 of 2203 Mass St sustained a broken right arm and shock after stumbling over a small box in a Safeway store while shopping with guest Mrs Leonard Stanwix of St Louis Mo. She was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital where attendants say her condition is satisfactory and she is making progress toward recovery.
Edwardsville Kan Nov 29 McClellan Mellott 27 father of Federal Judge Arthur J Mellott of Kansas died today at his farm near here He is survived by two other sons Paul O Mellott Edwardsville a noted Kaw Valley farmer and Dr Lennert S Mellott former Bonner Springs mayor and local physician two daughters a sister 11 grandchildren and 2½ great grandchildren Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at Bonner Springs.

Odessa Texas reports an exodus of children as polio cases rise with two deaths yesterday and the eighth death of the decade confirmed. Forty two polio cases are noted this year as migration includes pre school and school age youngsters, while garbage collection gaps and outdoor toilets are reported beyond city limits.
The Lawrence Community Chest drive closed with 21,611.62 in donations, surpassing the 1931 goal by 254.92. J. D. King credited widespread local support, noting ongoing solicitation for remaining cards and expected additional gifts to push totals above 21,500.
