AP reports Locarno does not lead 10 peace aims as nations debate security in Europe. Baltic tensions grow between Lithuania and Poland, with Russia and Germany unpredictable. Berlin and Bernstorff press for a practical disarmament conference, urging rapid progress under League of Nations guidelines.
Student athletic offices begin reservations for basketball tickets starting December 5. General sale opens December 5 for nine home games. Prices range from 50 cents for first floor seats to 2 dollars for first floor and balcony and 1 dollar for second balcony. About 4,000 seats available in the new auditorium.

Nov. 2 AP EFE. Counsel for Mrs Ruth Snyder seeks to delay execution by presenting testimony akin to the Leopold Loeb case. Dr Fi n iann, who testified in Chicago, cannot examine her in Sing Sing prison. Warden Lewis Raymond F C and state officials say authorized personnel are allowed to examine prisoners awaiting penalty.
An eye witness account links former federal agent Franklin L. Dodge Jr. to Mrs. Imogene Homes Remus, part of the George Remus murder case, in Cincinnati. Witnesses testify Remus may have been insane before he shot his wife at Eden Park on October 6, with statements about deportation and maintaining the house after prison. Proceedings include remarks from William Mueller and other officials in St. Louis and Cincinnati.
C E Craver of Lafontaine Indiana crowned North American corn king for 1927 defeating a large field at the International Livestock Exposition. He exhibited ten ears of Reid's Yellow Dent grown on a seventy acre plot and was champion in 1920.
New York Nov 29 AP directors of U S Steel held their meeting today with no decision toward electing a successor to the late Elbert H Gary as chairman. James A Farrell presided as president and the full board attended including J P Morgan and George F Baker.
President Coolidge regrets his annual message to Congress could not be shorter and says the current text, like last year’s, runs to thousands of words. The White House notes many problems deserve mention, despite his preference for brevity, and sees no precedent in this lapse.
Douglas County Milk Producers Association met at the Chamber of Commerce with 125 attendees including representatives of the five major distributing plants. Committees were formed to study eliminating price-cutting practices and report in two weeks. Bert Harman of Tonoxie spoke on dairy stock outlook noting 1500 cattle bought and shipped from the county, with heifer numbers declining and milk cattle prices up 25 percent, predicted to rise further.
Eighteen freshmen from Gamma Phi Beta at 1839 West Campus Road were put on bread and milk diet after an escapade. They spent the night at Eldridge hotel instead of cleaning, while upperclassmen conducted a meeting. The hotel register listed a group including Helen, Almond and party at Pumpkin Center, China.
New York AP reports Longwood Missionary Fellowship halted its 15 million dollar drive for a training school after treasurer J H Hilton vanished under suspicious circumstances. Officials fear the donor John W English, said to publish magazines worth 50 million, may be involved. Hilton was removed from office by the board. The organization urges anyone with contributions to contact the secretary.
Wichita and Kansas City police were asked to help a Baleto stockman, J A Tjaden, after he said he was swindled out of 6000 dollars in a bogus trade deal. The claim was reported from Wichita with the slicker scheme said to involve city con men.
In Mexico City a militant nationwide body similar to Italy’s Black Shirts is planned to support Calles and Obregon policies. The League for Revolutionary Defense would organize workers, farmers, and urban residents on military lines to counter reactionary forces. A growing testimonial drive by Mexican labor aims to praise Calles before his term ends.
In Mays Landing New Jersey on November 29 AP reports physicians testified that the victim Dr A William Lilliendahl showed no facial emotion after being shot, suggesting sudden death. Coroner Dr Edward Burt and autopsy physician Dr Lewis Souder said emotions do not survive into death, countering a defense claim of two negro assailants and forced driving by Mrs Lilliendahl and Willis Beach.
Romanian newspapers publish Queen Marie’s tribute to the late Premier Bratianu, stating the queen acted with full royal sanction on all matters involving Crown Prince Carol. The dispatches indicate the royal family endorsed the actions.
Miss Faith Blanche Smith, 40, of Chu dgo, attempted death by taking poison and slashing wrists at a Wichita hotel after being unsettled by her fiancé’s death in a recent automobile crash. She was hospitalized in serious condition.
Washington AP says Senator Robinson of Arkansas told a House committee that flood protection legislation should reach the Senate quickly to avoid delays. He noted House rules allow limits on debate while Senate rules permit unlimited discussion and urged an early start for a $100,000,000 annual expenditure for flood projects.
At Ll o'clock today the doors to the Memorial Union building were opened and students moved in. About ten students led tours while Ed Palmer and Mrs. Richison answered questions. Sherman G. Elliott said rooms on the opened floor were in use and many requests for reservations came in. He noted thirty unfinished rooms above would later host club meetings and committees as service expands.
The Big Six conference leaders from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa State, andColumbia plan a Kansas City meeting to discuss permanent organization and prelude to Missouri Valley post-season talks. Dr. Forrest C. Allen will attend along with football and other sports commissions. The session precedes the Missouri Valley coaches meeting in St Louis.
The Buck Creek district school board offers a $50 reward for arrest and conviction of thieves who stole a piano from Buck Creek school. The instrument, valued at 14,523 with mahogany finish, was moved via truck after entry through a window. A Topeka expert secured photos of fingerprints. the loss affects the district’s status as a top rural school in Jefferson County.
Elmer Schaake, a junior and star halfback, was elected captain for next season of Lawrence High School football at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon honoring the 1927 squad. Coach Melvin Griffin praised team unity and sportsmanship while noting a fund surplus for better work next year.
Alderman Montague of the House of Commons argues private theatrical societies enjoy unfair competition with commercial venues. He commented as Sir Walter de Frece urged the premier to curb unlicensed private productions of advanced sex plays. Dean D M Swarthout of the school of fine arts has mailed about 4000 programs for the fifty first annual meeting of the Music Teachers National Association to musical educators nationwide. The meeting is set for December 24 and 40 at the Hotel Radisson in Minneapolis. Swarthout, secretary of the association, will attend the event. Phone 119.
Five affiliated groups of the National Poultry Council gathered in Chicago on November 29 to push science education for higher egg standards. The Poultry Science Association urged professors and extension workers to spread findings, while the International Baby Chick Association backed a national ad campaign to educate raisers and promote quality chicks.

Coroner's jury returns verdict exonerating Patrolmen Vogler and Dowers and city officer Floyd Hunter in the death of Romeo Swehla fatally wounded while fleeing from a police car Sunday morning. The panel, including Bert Dale and others, finds death from gunshot wounds inflicted in the line of duty.
Ford Motor Company announces a forthcoming model featuring a 40 horsepower motor and standard selective gear shift. It will include hydraulic shocks, dry disc clutch, thermo-siphon cooling, new battery ignition system, welded steel spoke wheels, a forged steel rear axle, four wheel brakes, and six body types.
Douglas County tax statements for 1927 will be mailed by December 10 as county treasurer J F Metsker warns.
