Ballard Center Uses Social Media to Raise Funds and Support Kids
Ballard Center in Lawrence expands fundraising through Facebook and Twitter after a pantry shortage left families hungry. The combined Ballard Center and Penn House rely on private donations, United Way and grants for most of their 700000 dollar annual budget, while offering preschool, food aid, and family services. The initiative aims to boost early childhood education access and connect residents to broader resources.

Kimball notes differences between New York Elementary hard bid and the at risk model used for other projects at Broken Arrow Prairie Park Sunflower and Pinckney. The district shifted inspections to city inspectors after earlier options proved costly and unfit.
