Snow and ice hit Kansas area with dangerous glaze
Snow and ice conditions snarled travel in the Lawrence region with a treacherous glaze on Saturday. Seven vehicles left the roads along Highway 10 between Lawrence and Eudora. Wreckers worked through the weekend as heavy snow fell elsewhere in Dodge City and Garden City. Weather officials warned of more snow possible depending on the storm track.

Fire damages cabinet shop in Eudora
A fire blamed on an overhead heating unit caused substantial damage at Old World Cabinet Shop on Main Street in Eudora Saturday afternoon. Eldon Lovelett of the volunteer fire department said firefighters worked from about 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to extinguish smoldering materials. The Hill couple owned the shop at 706 Main. no cost estimate was given.

The Douglas County Commission sold an abandoned house and garage at 19th and Harper for 111.11 to Keith Construction Co. of Lawrence, the only bid.
