Viet Cong hit-and-run attacks spread across South Vietnam with targets including two U.S. air bases, a South Vietnamese junk base, a subsector HQ and a national police station. Turner Ford of Wichita bid 9331 for four personnel cars for turnpike officials. Jim Clark also runs Dodge Plymouth Chrysler dealerships in Lawrence Kansas City and Topeka.

Augelli Named by LBJ to Board of Foreign Scholarships
President Johnson appointed John P. Augelli a geography professor and Latin American studies director at the University of Kansas to the 12 member board of foreign scholarships. The three year term ends Sept. 22, 1970. The board allocates final review for about 5500 annual grant applicants to study lecture research or teach in the United States and abroad.

Tecumseh Man Charged After Police Chase
Charles Croan, 27, of Tecumseh faces municipal court charges of driving while intoxicated and using profane language after a high speed chase from the western edge of Tecumseh to about two miles outside the city. He was held on a $750 bond after a 1955 auto driven west on Sixth Street at up to 75 mph crossed center lines and left the city limits.

Doctor's Son Indicted in Robeson Girl Murder
Lewis Charles Ecker U 25 son of a prominent Washington physician was indicted for first degree murder and felony murder in the rape slaying of Judith K Robeson 24 a congressional secretary in her southwest Washington apartment. He is alleged to have strangled Robeson and to have committed rape. He has been found competent for trial and held under hospital supervision since arrest.

Centenary Methodist Plans Octagonal Church for 1968
Centenary Methodist announces a 55 000 dollar octagonal church at 4th and Elm to replace the 100 year old building lost to fire in February. The sanctuary will be in the round with a central altar, daylight through a central window, 12 stained glass windows, brick interior, and a bell tower. A 10 000 dollar interior upgrade to the current educational building is planned, both buildings air conditioned, with a December fund drive and a construction start aimed for March 1, 1968.
