36 Are Killed In Air Crash Near Tacoma Washington
A military transport from Alaska crashed near McChord Field south of Tacoma shortly after midnight in heavy fog while attempting a blind landing. Thirty six people died, including seven women and eight children, with three survivors. The craft struck a tree and burst into flames, two witnesses reported a fire engulfing the left engine and entire right wing. The crash occurred near a transplanted housing section and close to a business district along the South Tacoma highway.

A Southern Kansas Greyhound bus skidded on an ice patch on U S Highway 59 about 12 miles north of Ottawa, injuring one woman passenger slightly while 28 others were unhurt. The bus, en route from Kansas City to Tulsa, continued after the incident. The injured woman, Dr Josephyne Eg Davis, wife of Franklin County health officer Dr George W Davis, was examined in Ottawa then sent to a hospital for further check. McLouth Youth Improves After Shooting Accident

TOPEKA Gov Arn Friday refused to grant Nathaniel Germany a reprieve from a death sentence for killing a Kansas City Junior College student. Germany, a Kansas City Negro, is scheduled to die by hanging Dec 3 at the state penitentiary in Lansing. He was convicted in Wyandotte County District Court of slaying David W Gray in 1947. The Kansas Supreme Court upheld the conviction and sentence. The governor found no extenuating circumstances to warrant a reprieve.

Lawrence May Get Top Court Ruling On Water Sewage Plans
