Group studies future use of Carnegie Library building
A community group, including Lawrence city officials Mayor Sue Hack and Commissioner Mike Rundle, has met to plan a possible community center in the Carnegie Library building that served the public library for nearly 70 years. The group will hold a second meeting next month to review learning center models, with a February proposal to the city. The commission has earmarked about 500000 for rehabilitation, while an interim use debate continues, with a homeless shelter proposal under consideration for those denied by other shelters.
