Eutin Library Tours Fund Raising and Cataloging at KU
Kansas University's Watson Library assists the Eutin Landesbibliothek in northern Germany by teaching survival skills for fundraising and cataloging. Rosemarie Fleischer leads the Friends of the Landesbibliothek as they estimate 38,000 to 42,000 books, many on travel, plus 800 copper engravings from the 17th to 19th centuries. The three-building complex at Eutin Castle houses the collection begun from Mr. von Halem’s library, and staff hope the travel volumes become a European travel literature research institute. Cataloging is underway with title pages photocopied into new catalog books as researchers gain access. The library relies on government funding to cover basics while seeking external support.

Auction raises $67,000 for St John School fundraiser
The St John School Benefit Auction raised 67000 at a Sunday event with about 390 attendees at the Lawrence Holidome. Chair Jeanne Pees credited 725 donated items and local merchants for success as the school plans next year’s 10th annual sale and notes the Rock Chalk Revue will again benefit United Way.
