Editorial: Skating rink in Lawrence on thin ice
The Lawrence synthetic skating rink drew about 26,000 in 2014-15 and only 9,000 the next winter. Expenses totaled roughly 13,000 for staff and 10,000 for setup, with weather and plastic surface cited as reasons for waning appeal. Officials consider adding kid-focused events to boost attendance, but a continued loss raises questions about its future.
