Holiday meals and family life at Station 5 firefighters
At Station 5 on Stewart Ave, three crews rotate 24 hour shifts with a one in three chance of working on major holidays. Families adapt by celebrating on different days, sharing meals like baked beans, casseroles, pies, and brisket. Firefighters, medics, and their relatives balance duty with small gatherings, and kids learn to cope as alarms interrupt holiday moments.
