Cyclone hits Girard and Kansas City with heavy damage

A cyclone and electrical storm struck Girard Kansas at 8 30 this morning damaging small houses while larger structures stood. Dozens injured including John W Herman and Mat tie Gooding with critical condition, no deaths reported. In Pleasanton Kansas a cyclone damaged a brick block and an ice house, injuring several, while New York reports a man delivering a card claiming friendship with President Cleveland. The president traveled to Washington later that day.

Murder Mystery Ties Glen Cove Vessel Long Island

New York authorities and Greenpoint police probe the abandoned bloodstained schooner Long Island commanded by Capt. Thos. Carpenter. The vessel sailed from Jay Street for Captain Carpenter’s home and later was found ashore near Sea Cliff with signs of a struggle. Mate Henry Frank was arrested after denying presence aboard.

Missing Schooner L I Conway Wrecked Near Flower Creek

The Times Mus in Muskegon reports the schooner L I Conway bound from Chicago to Muskegon wrecked on the beach near Flower Creek seven miles north of White Lake during last week’s storm. Captain Thomas Smith of this city and four sailors are lost. The grain valued at $50,000 plus cargo is a total loss.

Arthur Obsequies Attend Ex President Arthur's Funeral

New York reports the ex president’s funeral was low key with notable attendees including President Cleveland James Blaine John Logan and ex president Hayes.
