Railroad crash in Marissa kills three at crossing
A coal train hit a sport utility vehicle at the Marissa crossing about 7:45 a.m. killing Tina Porter, her daughter Allaysa Porter, and Donna Calvert, a fourth person injured. Neighbors complained of crossing safety with gates planned for 2008. In Georgia, two 14 year old students at Savannah Country Day School were suspended after bringing a homemade bomb to campus. officials say they did not intend harm and charges have not been decided.

Bus plunge kills three as youths suffer numerous injuries
Huntsville Alabama police report a Lee High School bus crashed from an overpass of Interstate 565 onto Church Street after a car driven by another student apparently struck it. Three 17 18 year old girls died and more than 30 students and the driver were injured. The NTSB opened an investigation while hospital staff treated survivors.
