Acclaimed pianist Claude Frank to perform at KU in Murphy Hall

The acclaimed pianist Claude Frank will play in the Kansas University Concert Course at 8 20 p m Monday in the University Theatre Murphy Hall. He will perform works by Mozart Beethoven Schumann and Frank Martin. Born in Germany Frank began piano at six and later studied with Schnabel. His career includes European tours and appearances with major American orchestras.

State School Heads Discuss Higher Education Budget

The Kansas Board of Regents group met in Topeka to prepare for the governor's budget hearing. Chancellor Laurence Chalmers said officials received a bleak forecast from the state budget office and explored unified testimony. They floated options to designate one president for faculty matters and another for equipment. A proposal to exempt faculty and staff from incidental fees was postponed for legal review before December. Caudill Rowlett Scott consultants briefed the leaders on Phase I planning. They also approved rotating chairmanships across inter-institutional committees.

Osborn to Speak at 17th Annual Library Lecture

James M. Osborn, a book collector and scholar, will present the 17th annual public Lecture on Books and Bibliography at Kansas University. The 3 30 p m event in Kenneth Spencer Research Library auditorium covers a computerized system for indexing poetic manuscripts. Sponsored by KU Libraries and the English department.

Lawrence couple splits as history scholar relocates

Mrs. Harrison, now a Southern University history staff member in Baton Rouge, says she and Leonard Harrison separated before she left Lawrence. She completed a PhD in history last fall and now lives with their two children in Louisiana. She has had no contact with him and knows nothing of his whereabouts.

No Jury Action Delayed to Later Court Day

District Court Clerk Mrs. Lucille Allison said no jurors should report next week. Jurors ordered for 9 am Monday must report Nov 29 and those set for 1:30 pm Tuesday must report at 9 am Dec 1. Criminal jury trials were continued to a later court day.
