A teenage gang has stolen nine cars 50 tires 25 carburetors 30 radios and more since January raising costs for William F. James founder of Boys Town of Missouri. He warns ongoing thefts could force operations to close or cut protection measures and insurance coverage. James notes the culprits are from well off South St. Louis families and that several cars have been recovered while others were damaged or stripped. Boys Town, based in St James, Mo, serves errant youths with 96 residents under James’ leadership as board chairman.
