Lawrence man gets five years in internet sex case
Matthew L. Maslak a 25 year old from Lawrence was sentenced to five years in prison for using the Internet to entice a child for sexual purposes. A Platte County detective in a chat room posed as a 14 year old girl triggering the case. Maslak pleaded guilty and drove to Platte County within hours expecting sexual acts.

Nebraska weighs options to curb Republican River shortfall
About 60 state and local water officials met at Tri Basin NRD Holdrege to discuss cutting irrigation or pumping groundwater to ease the Republican River shortfall amid drought. Ann Bleed of the DN R said Nebraska must reduce the deficit soon and may need to transfer 100000 acre feet by 2007 or face about 15 million dollars in fees in 2008.

Holiday Bazaar set for Lawrence arts and crafts show
Leavenworth native Vicki Davis will join about 100 exhibitors at the 29th annual Holiday Bazaar in Lawrence. The craft show runs Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 115 W Nth St Community Building with local music and an expected crowd of 4000 to 5000. Davis knits teddy bears with NFL or NASCAR insignia and will enter several holiday directions for the first time in Lawrence.
