Coat Thief Captured After Burning His Overcoat
A thief entered W C Hubbell’s home on Winthrop street taking two coats. Frank Hobbell and Officer Ven Eilis chased him to a freight car near the Santa Fe depot where the man was pulled aboard. The thief burned his overcoat in a stove to conceal identity and was later placed in calaboose. Also reported: a carriage accident injuring Mrs Sibley, Mrs M C Judge’s burial, and various local business notes and national items.
