Kansas University faces a potential shift as the Liberal Arts faculty weighs denying degree credit for military science courses not integrated by fall 1971. The move could threaten ROTC viability, affect recruiting, and raise questions of university governance amid Senate study into ROTC integration.
Herman D. Lujan, associate professor of political science at Kansas University, will chair the University Senate committee reviewing the KU ROTC program. The panel, announced by Charles Oldfather, includes faculty and student members and senior ROTC officers, with a progress report due in fall 1971.
A Senate subcommittee heard of a billion dollar international illegal money racket centered in Saigon with ties in world banking. The scheme moves dollars and piasters through banks, using a Muslim Indian-led network and a NY account, undermining Vietnam’s economy and signaling large profits from illegal exchange.
Lawrence police reported Monday that vandals damaged the Old English Village Malls site at 2411 La. A window was broken copper tubing wrapped around lumber and nails poured into an air pipe. The same day thefts from cars were reported including a $190 stereo deck and eight tapes from Allen S. Poland. Leonard Van DeWalle said 10 stereo tapes valued at $80 were taken from his locked Ramada Inn car overnight.

Salina city commissioners tentatively approved a plan to allow two hour free parking in the core business district and all day free parking in outlying areas. Cloth hoods would cover meters on a six month trial beginning Feb. 1, proposed by businessman Dana Stevenson.
Secretary of the Air Force Robert Seamans denies Fitzgerald was fired for Congress disclosures on C5A costs. He says Fitzgerald's post was abolished in a reorganization. Senator Proxmire questions Seamans while Seamans cites new cost controls and quarterly reviews as part of the overhaul.
Sen. Robert F. Bennett urged consolidation of Kansas counties and broad home rule at the Kan sas Official Council Convention in Wichita. He called for county executive government, reduced multiple governments, and selective appointments to avoid diffusion of responsibility, stressing efficiency and fiscal practicality.
Kansas City, AP report: Ron dalf F. Holscher, 29, died Monday night when his car left U.S. 50, struck two utility poles and a mailbox.
