KU stadium plan may be scaled down

Kansas University Athletic Director Clyde Walker plans a revised Memorial Stadium renovation proposal for the KU Athletic Corp. Board. Commissioners deny request for rezoning by Hillcrest area

Destitute woman charged with bank robbery in Wichita

A 25 year old Richmond Virginia woman Phillis Mundy was charged with robbery after allegedly robbing Union National Bank of 1392 dollars when she had run out of Red Cross lodging. She had turned her four children over to state foster care and was held on a 1000 dollar bond.

Beating death investigation in Lawrence trimmed to seven

Solar heating project planned for Stouffer Place at KU

KU plans to install Honeywell solar heating and cooling at Stouffer Place with NASA and ERDA funding. Estimated $350000 cost. KU provides $35000 site work and approves $35000 from university funds. Construction to begin after year end. operation hoped by May for cooling season.

Lawrence Housing Authority considers resignation of executive director

Lawrence Housing Authority will review a letter of resignation from executive director Sarah Peters at tonight's meeting. Peters says back problems could limit full time work and may stay on part time while medical issues clarify. She has led Edgewood Homes and Babcock Place since July after serving as acting director since April.

Douglas County Bicentennial Funds Under Review

A Douglas County Historical Society panel may decide by Friday how to use unspent Bicentennial funds donated this year. Charles Stough notes the special committee plans to conclude its inquiry into the unused money from the now defunct Douglas County Bicentennial Commission. The funds were earmarked for projects outside Lawrence and stem from the survey of the county building, a major prior project. The historical society has not officially accepted the donation.
