Reformatory sentence for teen Wilks on forgery charges
Chester A. Wilks age 16 of 735 North 3rd Street was sentenced in District Court this morning to a term of not less than one nor more than 10 years in the Kansas Industrial Reformatory at Hutchinson. He pleaded guilty on November 6 to two counts of second degree forgery.

A truck rolled across Sixth Street from a filling station into another station, causing $300 in truck damage and additional property damage. Topeka API reports Dec 11 is the trial date for former state legislator Thomas M. Kidwell on charges he murdered his second wife Betty Goetsch Kidwell. KU Med Center to Hike Rates $8 a Day
The Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City will raise daily rates by $8 starting January 1 after approval by the Kansas Board of Regents. Provost George Wolf said the hike funds higher salaries with the minimum hourly wage rising from 1.31 to 1.38 next February and nurses receiving a $25 monthly increase beginning March 1. Current rates range from 35 to 44 dollars per day.

Lawrence police reported two auto thefts a break in and vandalism incidents. Kansas man injured in one car crash on K-32 near Linwood
Robert Ragin 19 of Kansas City Kansas suffered bruises after his 1963 car rolled into a ditch following being forced off the road by an eastbound truck on K-32 one mile west of Linwood. The damage to the car was $900 and he was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
