Wreck Found After 28 Die In Air Tragedy Near Las Vegas

Wreckage of a Bonanza Air Lines Fairchild F27 plane was found in rugged terrain about 16 miles southwest of Las Vegas near Arden after vanishing during a snowstorm on a Phoenix to Las Vegas flight. All 28 aboard were killed as helicopters aided by four craft moved bodies to a lower level amid blizzard conditions. The craft reportedly had one wheel down and no landing lights as it attempted an instrument approach.

JFK Grave to Have Classic Monument

Plans for a white marble terrace and a low plain monument mark John F. Kennedy’s grave with an eternal flame funded largely by the government. The grave site at Arlington National Cemetery features a grass plot, slate tablet, kneeling prayer step, and tablets for Kennedy children, with construction aimed to start in fall 1965 and run about a year. The Kennedy family expects to cover only a portion of costs, with Congress asked to appropriate most funds.

Sunday Wrecks Cause Over 5000 In Damages

A rain driven series of crashes on slick city streets Saturday into Sunday caused property damage over 5000, with one hospitalization and two minor injuries. Police said multiple wrecks occurred mainly from 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. as water filled ditches and some township roads were closed. Carolyn Foster, 16, was admitted after a two car crash near the Hallmark plant. Gary Stauffer and Alexander Waddell were involved. Charles Whitman, 21, sustained a head cut in a separate Louisiana Street crash. Whitman was treated and released. A four car collision near 10th and Mass left Larry Hamilton with a minor injury.
