Lawrence city commissioners vote 4-1 to adopt a new Land Development Code after public comments urged a pause. Amendments clarified edits and planning department direction, with Clarion Associates assisting as the city aligns code with Plan 2040. Commissioner Lisa Larsen cast the lone no vote.
The city will relocate 51 employees from Riverfront Mall to City Hall including 38 planning staff and 13 Municipal Court workers. Municipal Court proceedings begin at City Hall on November 25 in the City Commission chambers with clerical windows on the first floor. Utility billing and other services shift to City Hall ground floor on November 18 and December 6 respectively.
