Repeated Crashes Ravage Yard as Car Slams US 59 Fence
Four months after a driver fell asleep and veered off U S Highway 59 into Kathy Shuck’s Pleasant Grove yard, remnants of the crash scatter across the property. Neighbors have betting records on fence repairs, noting the fence has been struck more than 30 times and rebuilt after each incident. The area’s curve and passing lane contribute to ongoing accidents blamed on speeding inattention and alcohol. Shuck recalls a life-long history with the fence, a symbol of changing traffic through the hamlet.
