Serpent Foundered in Storm Off Spain With 247 Lost
News from Loxpon reports the British torpedo cruiser Serpent has foundered off Cape Finistere after a storm. Of 250 aboard only three were saved. The ship, 770 tons with 4,500 horsepower and six guns, went aground in heavy seas and mist. Rescue was impossible from shore. bodies washing ashore were few and distant. The crew included officers and men bound for the African station. Three sailors who swam ashore at Camarinas survived. most others perished.
