Unemployment claims rise as 303 draw benefits in district
Last week 303 people at the U S Employment Service office drew unemployment compensation including 21 World War II veterans. New claims totaled 196 with 20 veterans. Waiting period claims reached 41 and 100 claims were pending previously. In Jefferson county Oska Toosa and Valley Falls offices 15 new claims filed, 15 waiting, 13 on continuing claims. Leo Phalen led staff on Armistice Day.

Flight Surgeon Killed in Transport Plane Crash
