Philadelphia Nov 11 Acting British Consul George Crump will open an official inquiry tomorrow into the collision between the steamship Champion and the ship Lady Octavia to determine cause and responsibility.
Tailroad Consolida New York reports consolidation of Omaha and Northern Nebraska with St Paul and Sioux City. Shares bought as extension of St Paul and Sioux City noted. In London a collision sinks Bokhara after striking Milane se at Gravesend. all crew saved.
A gang is reported to be operating through New England, taking notes from farmers for undelivered wares and discounting them quickly. The scheme is alleged to be directed by wealthy businessmen in Michigan.
Berlin November 11 editors of the principal newspapers in St Petersburg have been summoned by the Press Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior. They were instructed about the conduct of their papers after frequent complaints that articles interfered with imperial policy.
Washington November 11 The annual General Land Office report to the Interior shows for the fiscal year ending June disposals of public lands totaling 4 4 million acres with 1 46 million acres surveyed bringing total unsurveyed to about 19 million. Increases in homesteads and timber culture entries offset declines in cash sales and railroad grants, while absentee Shawnee and Miami lands prompt proposed legislation. Depredations on timber across Arkansas and Michigan are detailed, with enforcement hampered by limited funds and calls for stronger action.
A violent storm swept Crawford county on Saturday afternoon, with hail in Van Buren noted at two to three inches. The storm track passed near National sixteen miles north, sweeping away trees and injuring residents. John N. Newton died when his house collapsed. Capt. Flaherty reported recovering the abandoned bark Royal Arch near Sunderland, with vessel intact and crew missing. A volunteer crew was set to sail the bark to New York.

Receipts: cattle 1,700. hogs 3,700. sheep 1,500. Shipments: cattle 200, hogs 2,100, sheep 200.
The Lacano Illinois produce market shows flour nominally unchanged while wheat remains dull with bids and futures mixed. Corn and rye stay steady with limited transactions. pork products and bulk meats show good demand at steady to higher prices, whisky steady at 1.09.
Chicago November 11 market activity shows native pigs trading around 0.50 to 0.50, Texans cited at 230 to 285, receipts about 4,600 with 9 months 400. Hogs dull and easier with mixed packing around 23.50 to 36.60, tight at 3.40 to 6.90, receipts 26,000 and shipments 6,000. Sheep priced at 2.60 to 24.10 with receipts 1,500.

Butter ranges 18 to 20 cents for choice, 12 to 14 for medium, 5 to 6 for common.
Cattle receipts 1,826 with 704 shipments. demand for feeding steers steady due to rain. Hogs firmer with prices up to 3.30 dollars. sales mainly 3.25 to 3.30. Receipts 1,749 with no shipments. Sheep quiet with no sales or receipts.
The New York market shows dull flour with values for superfine Western and state around 4.50 to 5.95, white wheat extra at about 6.00, and mixed and ungraded wheats ranging from roughly 1.22 to 1.38 with some inconsistencies. Rye remains firm, corn steadies, oats are weak, and mixed West oats show the weakest reads of the day.
