Three dead in Walnut Creek pipeline blast and fire
A construction crew struck an underground petroleum pipeline Tuesday in Walnut Creek causing an explosion and a spreading fire that left three dead and six injured. Nearby buildings were damaged as flames shot into the air while responders battled the blaze. The crew was on a public water project per Contra Costa fire marshal Richard Carpenter.
