County agent Ho C Colglazier estimates gopher damage across 27099 acres of alfalfa clover and grasses. At four gophers per acre the county feeds nearly 100000 gophers daily from spring to fall with five cents damage per gopher monthly. Losses reach about 35000 for seven months with some counties citing 50000. Average annual farm loss about 17 dollars per acre per year.
