Kansas forecast shows mostly cloudy nights and Thursday with scattered showers in the northwest and southeast fair. Warmer tonight, cooler Thursday in the northwest, showers Friday. Morning outlook fair, dirt roads good. Temperature records note yesterday’s high 62 and low unspecified.
Los Angeles November 9 Culbert Olson the new Democratic governor elect issued a statement hinting he will likely pardon Tom Mooney, convicted in the 1916 San Francisco Preparedness Day bombing. He reaffirmed his view that Mooney is innocent and said he would approach the pardon application with those beliefs.
Attorney General Clarence V. Beck asked the Kansas Supreme Court to restrain Kansas City Kansas from issuing four million dollars in revenue bonds for a wholesale terminal fruit and vegetable market. He argued the city lacks authority to build the project or issue bonds, as the plan pledges general city credit and exceeds legal limits.
Detroit returns show Frank D. Fitzgerald defeats incumbent governor Frank Murphy in the 1938 Michigan race. With 2,696 of 3,553 precincts reporting, Fitzgerald leads 611,229 to 524,369. Murphy concedes, citing the public verdict and his service record.

He expressed gratitude to voters and supporters and said he would earnestly try to fulfill the campaign’s issues and expectations with help from citizens across the state.
Republicans captured all township officers in Douglas County with large margins. In Wakarusa Chester Spray won treasurer 735 to 440 over Frank Topping, while Chester C Howard defeated Fred Peterson 731 to 430 for clerk. Multiple townships show solid GOP control across trustees treasurers clerks and justices of the peace.
The University of Kansas band, 97 members plus eight others, departed Lawrence in three buses for a six day trip to Washington D C to perform at the Kansas George Washington University football game. They will stop in Evansville Indiana for a concert, then Chillicothe Ohio tomorrow night before arriving in Washington Saturday morning. The contribution fund surpassed 900 dollars, about 100 dollars over the target, with the University concert course adding 100 dollars.
