Federal workers eye 2.64 percent raise with local boosts

A proposed pay formula from the Federal Salary Council would lift next year's base 2 percent raise by locality increases. Miami leads with about 4.27 percent including the base, Kansas City 2.65 percent, others at 2.64 percent, and New York and Los Angeles excluded from locality boosts. Six cities join rest of U.S. at 2.64 percent: Albuquerque Memphis Salt Lake City San Antonio Norfolk and Oklahoma City.

Stamp prices likely to rise

Washington AP plan on paying more to mail a letter in early January. Sam Winters, chairman of the Postal Service governing board, said the agency hopes to raise rates as early as January. A 10.3 percent increase is proposed, including a three cent boost in the first class rate to 32 cents. The Postal Rate Commission is reviewing the proposal and expected to rule within weeks.
