The Minimum Housing Code Board of Appeals ruled the house at 1321 Tenn owned by Daniel S. Ling should not be demolished and may be repaired if work starts within a reasonable time. Ling offered to sell for 1500 to former member Eldredge to restore and rent to students.
Julie Nixon Eisenhower may replace Ronald Reagan on his daily radio show if he declares candidacy for the Republican nomination. A conference committee version of an appropriations bill includes 10 million for priority projects such as the Clinton Parkway, with 3.978 billion for the Transportation Department. The measure could reach the House as early as Tuesday and then move to the Senate and President Ford if approved. Local officials pursue the parkway as a major share of a 70 percent federal funding request, while FHA plans phased funding and a criteria-based ranking. An environmental impact statement is near final, with approvals and a 30 day CEQ filing preceding engineering work.
David Taynor sues Gloria W. Byers in Douglas County District Court claiming an October contract hiring him as general manager and stock deal were broken. He seeks damages of 25000, stock transfer, a restraining order, accounting of finances, and sale of the business with asset division. Byers has 20 days to respond.
Basehor work on the new Basehor Middle School adjacent to the high school is in final stages. Supt. Walter Meyer says crews are on the punch list correcting items not installed right such as plug ins, recaulking windows, and replacing trim. He hopes the building can be occupied this month and notes it will serve 210 students in grades 6-8.
