Kansas school funding overhaul faces Supreme Court review
A Kansas funding overhaul after a 2014 ruling scrapped an equalization plan, replacing it with block grants for two years, reduced aid for larger districts like Lawrence by about 1.5 million, and prompted a court challenge. Justices questioned the state’s evidence and constitutionality while the case advances on expedited schedule ahead of spring arguments on overall adequacy and a potential 500 million annual funding need.
