Egyptian ground troops crossed the Suez Canal striking an Israeli patrol north of El Qantara and an army convoy. Five Israeli soldiers were wounded in the patrol attack and an armored car and two tanks were reportedly destroyed in the first raid. Israel said it captured one wounded Egyptian soldier.

Thomas C. Baker II, 26, the fifth person to leap from the Golden Gate Bridge and live, described the flight as eternal and angelic. He remained in San Francisco General Hospital with a ruptured spleen and a fractured leg after the jump prompted by work disappointment and his missing poodle Piroutette. Coast Guard crews and the CHP investigated the episode as they searched for more victims and identified the latest jumper as Charles H. Stebbins Jr., 22, of Campbell, who leaped on Tuesday.

Inquest Not Set in Kopechne Death Autopsy Awaited
Edgartown Mass AP Judge James A Boyle declined to fix a date for the Kopechne inquest until Pennsylvania decides on exhuming the body for autopsy. Auto Plaza Planned Here On 25 Acre Site
Preliminary plans outline an Auto Plaza on a 25 acre site one mile south of 23rd and Iowa. Jim Clark of Jim Clark Motors says he will seek zoning board approval at the December meeting. Five dealers would be housed with four to five acres each, bringing several Lawrence dealers to the project. Customers would benefit from cluster services and nearby shops as in Colorado Springs. Land is owned by J. J. Lavery with Clark’s purchase pending zoning clearance. Construction could begin early next spring pending approvals.
