Ralph Richard Frisbie of Grantville received three concurrent five year terms in the Kansas State Penitentiary after pleading guilty to three counts of embezzling over 16000 from the Grantville Elementary School District. He resigned as treasurer and is accused of misappropriating funds via checks to himself and short deposits. recovery of about 10000 from Glen Falls Insurance aided restitution. remaining amount pursued civilly. Frisbie, a Santa Fe Railway employee, has five children. The loss was uncovered at a June 4 board meeting.
A Lawrence woman reported a car theft Friday night. An off duty officer spotted the stolen vehicle and stopped it northeast of Lawrence. Two juveniles were in the car and will appear before Juvenile Court judge Charles Rankin.
Kansas University members of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity volunteer for the Lawrence NAACP membership drive on Sunday November 7. David Jones says the drive has been active for over a week and aims to reach Negro households not yet contacted to boost local participation.

The third Church Wide School of Missions session runs 6 10:30 p.m. Sunday at First Methodist Church. The program focuses on brotherhood with the film Almost Neighbors shown by Kenneth Fisher. Discussions follow led by Geneva Mendenhall, Richard Sapp and Glenn Rappleman. Music by J Bronson and others. coffee by W Stitt Robinson. Funds support Christian education for Methodist students at Haskell Institute.
The Kansas University Chamber Choir, a 40 member ensemble formed in 1963 by Prof. Clayton Krehbiel, will give its first public concert of the school year at 3 30 p m Sunday in University Theater. The program spans from Palestrina to Hindemith and Webern.
At a Kansas gathering in Topeka supporters voiced optimism for Docking running for higher office. Democratic figures Mary Selig Allen and Nell Blangers praised enthusiasm and warned of strong candidacy potential for governor and senator in 1966. Missing speakers Harry Wiles and John Montgomery were noted for prior candidacies.
Kansas University zoologist Paul R. Burton will report findings on a new type of visual organ in certain insects at the American Society for Cell Biology meeting in Philadelphia from November 10 to 12. He collaborates with Karl A. Stockhammer, entomology assistant professor, and uses an electron microscope.
Trinity Lutheran Church will hold an all church dinner from 6 30 to 9 p m Tuesday at the Kansas University Union Ballroom. Toastmaster will be Dr W Clarke Wescoe KU chancellor and parish member. Rev Charles A Puls former Trinity pastor and Lutheran Church in America staffer will speak. Arden Booth former council member will narrate Trinity work with colored slides.
Former Vice President Richard Nixon predicts the Republican Party can pick up 30 to 40 House seats in 1966 and gain in the Senate and governorships. He asserts Republicans have repudiated the radical right while noting President Johnson's popularity may fall. He cites New York City mayoral race as an example of coattail limits.
Davis notes last year Peter Pan drew about 22 000 including EU audiences and Wyandotte Music Hall attendees. He hopes for touring engagements in smaller Kansas communities and a semi professional Children's Theatre company may form with teachers free from classroom duties.

Douglas Humphrey 17 son of Vice President Hubert Humphrey spends weekend at Tau Kappa Epsilon at Kansas University. He is a Shattuck Military School student invited by Steve Olson and Steve Biesant both Shattuck alumni. KU visit runs Friday to Sunday. Humphrey may enroll at KU.
At Salina annual meeting of the Kansas Retired Teachers Association Miss Opal Jayne Kennedy was elected president and Miss Helen Shaw secretary. Other officers include L. H. Hoff man vice president C. F. Lebow treasurer Miss Grace Stewart assistant treasurer D. A. McCannel legislative chairman and Miss Dot McDaniel retiring president. The group has 13 active chapters and 1 556 members with about 175 retirees attending. Miss Stewart spoke on her Mediterranean trip. The 1966 state meeting will be November 4 in Lawrence during the Kansas State Teachers Association convention.
James Farmer national director of CORE says New York could elect a Negro mayor in about twelve years. He estimated that John V. Lindsay captured 43 percent of the Negro vote in his Republican Liberal victory in the heavily Democratic city.
Maryland Court of Appeals ruled that almost all pending criminal indictments are invalid due to a constitutional requirement that jurors affirm belief in a Supreme Being. The decision affects about 3,000 cases and follows the Oct. 11 ruling overturning a murder conviction in a Buddhist case.
One car overturned in a single vehicle crash about a mile west of 23rd and Iowa Streets. Driver Tom Dolan 18 received a sprained ankle and bruises. three passengers escaped with minor injuries. The 1957 car was a total loss according to the Sheriff's Office report.
