Westar Energy executives Douglas T. Lake and David Wittig faced a federal fraud trial accusing them of looting the Topeka based utility. Tax witnesses said personal use was not income assigned to employees but was not deducted from aircraft expenses. Trial started October 19 and is expected to last about 10 weeks.
