Earl Fickertt former editor and publisher of the Peabody Gazette died Friday at his home from a heart attack. He chaired the Kansas Press Association in 1934 and earlier published newspapers in Lewis Nickerson and Montezuma. He sought the Republican nomination for state auditor in 1934, losing to Will J. French by 14 000 votes. In 1955 he served as an aide to Lt. Gov. John B. McCuish.
