Ex Clermont county treasurer Alfred M Robinson was arrested in Miamiville on a charge of embezzling 24000 dollars from the county treasury two years earlier. A former clerk had been under arrest for the crime for over a year but was released last week. In Detroit, J L Pitch, who killed his wife and four year old daughter at Hadley near Lapere, was convicted and sentenced to life hard labor with solitary confinement at the Jackson penitentiary.
Telegraph dispatches describe fair weather along the upper Mississippi and lower Missouri valleys with southeast to southwest winds and falling barometer. Gen Grant’s advance through WR is hailed as a welcome advance as towns from the route send lengthy accounts of his success.

Kansas City market report dated Nov 2 shows cattle steady with good packer demand and prices near prior range. Wheat declines with No 2 red at 1.21 to 1.26 per unit, corn and oats mixed. rye and barley steady. Pork prices ease to 10.25 cash and 10.30 for January delivery. dry salt meats lower. bacon transactions sparse. lard nominal around 6.20 to 6.25.
In Saint Louis trade numbers show hogs active and lower with Yorkers pend and Baltimore expresses around 3204.0 to 3204.3, mixed packing 3204.0 to 3204.3, and butchers at 3.60 to 3.65. Receipts reached 17,200 and shipments 140.
New York market reports mixed results across commodities on November 8. Flour and wheat show varied bids, with ungraded spring and red winter values listed. corn and oats steady to weak. rye quiet. cattle and sheep weak with low sales. hogs receipts high at 21,500 with limited end-user supply and a weak overall tone. Market mood described as subdued with no clear clearance.
