Heaggans Sets KU Kickoff Return Record In Loss

Greg Heaggans, KU’s bright spot in a 2-8 season, set a single season kickoff return yardage record with 610 yards after five returns for 119 yards including a 58 yarder in Kansas 64 0 loss to No 14 Kansas State at Memorial Stadium. Heaggans surpassed Arnold Snell’s 31 yard mark from 1988 and noted the defense’s struggles as Kansas dropped to 0 6 in conference play with injuries and turnovers shaping the game.

Mangino faces long road to turning KU football around

Mangino avoided predicting a rapid turnaround after Kansas suffered its eighth straight loss in 2003. He warned it will take three to five years to rebuild in the Big 12, refused to blame his predecessor, and acknowledged the job is big. He balanced political stagecraft with a plan to work harder and stick to his system amid limited talent.
