Neighbors Save Farm Home From Roof Fire Near Big Springs
Early this morning a roof fire at the Howard Henry farm half a mile south of Big Springs prompted a quick neighbor response. C H Waldo of Richmond and his son alerted the Henrys and led a bucket brigade alongside about 39 locals who pumped water from a well and cistern until the blaze eased an hour and a half later. A temporary sheet iron roof was installed to keep the family in their home.
