Kansas woman seeks experimental migraine surgery

Townsend woke on November 7, 2010 unable to speak or move the right side, initially suspected stroke. Neurologist Dr. Nancy Hammond describes her hemiplegic migraine as a rare, evolving condition causing daily cycles of paralysis and pain. Townsend, a Kansas resident, has lost home and savings, sells belongings, and awaits a Reed migraine surgery in Dallas as a last resort to restore function and life. Medicare covers most costs, but about 12,000 dollars is needed upfront, prompting a GoFundMe and auctions of belongings.
